Devlog#11: We're Almost Done??

This week for Intermediate Game Development...It's another normal devlog and I'm kinda sad it's almost over already.

During the break I was able to model/animate all 4 creatures for the section of the game I was focusing on. I also was able to add in some particle effects, UI art, and a placeholder skybox. There were some edits made to the UI again since we were debating how many photos players should be able to take etc and so that players can name these odd creatures they're discovering! So that's kinda it for the tasks I did.

Next I hope to continue to polish the game, hopefully my group and I can settle on a game name, possibly figure out what's the teeny bit of narrative that the player will see at the start and also add in sounds! We haven't really figured out what we wanted these creatures to sound like etc. because we were focusing on art assets and bug fixing, but I think we'd all rather deal with sounds/polish during the last week rather than a butt load of bugs.

I feel pretty good about the progress of this project! I felt a little worried it would be too fast since we were getting things done quickly, but just because the main mechanics are in and they work, doesn't mean there aren't flaws to them! We're not like struggling/panicking to have our game be what it needs to be by the deadline and since it's finals week, the amount of work having to be done for this project is just enough for me to focus on everything else along with this. Basically, it feels just right for me. I'm excited to be almost done and looking forward to my group being able to finish next week!
